Certification Eligibility Changes

Effective Fall, 2015, NAMSS has modified the eligibility requirements for the CPCS and CPMSM examinations.  Among the changes:  A CPCS or CPMSM in good standing will no longer automatically qualify for one or the other examinations.

For the CPCS exam:

At the time of application, the candidate must be currently employed in the medical services profession for at least the past 12 consecutive months AND have a total of three years' experience in the medical services profession within the past five years.

For the CPMSM exam:

At the time of application, the candidate must be currently employed in the medical services profession for at least the past 12 consecutive months AND have a total of five years' experience in the medical services profession within the past eight years.

The previous qualification (Be a CPCS or CPMSM in good standing AND be employed for at least the past 12 consecutive months in the medical services profession) was removed based on data that reflected a 90% failure rate for CPMSM candidates with less than five years' experience.
